Hi, I'm Daniƫlle
I’ve been writing a YA Time Fantasy series inspired by the Australian outback for about eight years now. I used to steal time on Sunday mornings, squeezing in scenes between workdays and social catchups while constantly struggling to stay inspired. For years, my art was nothing more than a side hustle that occassionally crumbled next to a demanding job.
Until I decided to give my dream a real shot. I paused my HR career and dedicated myself fully to my stories. I sold my house in the Netherlands, booked a one-way flight, and just went. For eight months I travelled through Australia, Bali and New Zealand, letting life lead me wherever it wanted to go. It was messy, sometimes even unproductive, and I never planned where it actually took me.
When the possibility of a Masters in Creative Writing in Perth opened up, it felt as if I’d just missed the most obvious thing all along. The journey has taught me that being a true nomad is so much more than travelling the world. Every move is a new adventure, and I find belonging in places as if they’re a new season of my life. Now I get to live and study in the land that started all of this in 2018, and call it my home for the next two years.
This blog is where I share my stories as I learn, experiment, travel and write, whether that’s in Australia, the Netherlands or beyond.
